Waste Services

The City has contracted with the Allied Waste Company for waste management in Lakeshire. They can be contacted directly at (636) 947-5959. All regular trash and recyclables are collected each Monday. Yard waste is picked up on Friday.

A 90-gallon tote will be provided for each residential unit free of charge. Owners of apartment buildings are encouraged to obtain a free tote for each unit.

Everyone who owns a single-family home, a duplex, or a condominium, must pay for recycling, whether or not you use this service, so you are encouraged to participate in the program.

The new prices for trash removal for 2013 are as follows:

$13.96 for single family homes, duplexes and condos (includes recycling)
$39.86 for four family buildings
$59.79 for six family buildings
$79.37 for eight family buildings
$10.21 for yard waste for homes, duplexes, condo and all apartment units
$  4.00 per unit cost of recycling for 4,6, &8 family buildings

Bulk items, such as chairs, sofas, mattresses, etc., will be picked up weekly at no additional charge. A special, appropriately sized truck will be dispatched for this specific purpose.

White goods are not allowed to be placed with regular trash, so you must call Allied Waste to arrange for pick up. There is a $25 charge per item for this service.

City ordinance requires that all eight-family building owners must use one four-cubic yard dumpster per each building owned. Citations will be issued for non-compliance. The cost of each four-cubic yard dumpster is $47.50 per month. The cost of a six-cubic yard dumpster is $62.00 per month.

Trash and Recyclables Should Not be Placed at the Curb Until The Night Before Pick-Up.

Empty containers must be removed from the curb at noon time, the day after pick-up. Failure to comply is a violation of City Ordinance.

Trash Guidelines

Bundles of boards/lumber must be cut in four-foot lengths and paint cans without lids (paint must be dried or have cat litter or sand added to neutralize the chemicals within).

The hauler will not accept metal/steel poles, household chemicals, car parts, rocks, or tires.  Yard waste mixed with trash will not be accepted.

White goods/appliances (televisions, dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, computer equipment, air conditioners, furnaces, hot water heaters, washers, and dryers) will only be accepted by Midwest Waste for a prepaid fee of $25.00 per item.  A special white goods/appliance pick up can be scheduled by calling (314) 621-1853.

Call Midwest Waste to obtain a free recycling container and current guidelines and procedures for recycling.

Yard Waste

Yard waste must be placed in containers or in biodegradable bags which can be purchased at hardware, grocery, and home supply stores. Yard waste placed in plastic bags will not be accepted.
